OEC Fiber is a subsidiary of OEC (Oklahoma Electric Cooperative) and is governed by the OEC Board of Directors and the OEC Fiber Board of Directors. It is managed and operated by OEC employees who embody the same attitude and spirit of OEC that you know and trust.
OEC Fiber is the first company in Oklahoma to offer fiber internet, phone and TV services to the home and businesses of its OEC member base.
We fully believe it is our responsibility to offer services that improve the quality of our members’ and future members’ lives. As technology evolves, so do our members. We believe that reliable, affordable, accessible and fast internet and phone services are essential for everyone.
Faster internet speeds have and will continue to revolutionize the web in new ways. Imagine chatting with your doctors or teachers via HD video conference or collaborating on a work or school project with contributors across the globe in real time. Imagine new online billing applications that don’t freeze. Or making sure your children can do their homework in ways not done before and take a break to play some online video games with no buffering! Or automatically saving all of your work to the cloud in a blink of an eye—and not having to worry about losing files in a computer crash. Faster speeds mean more possibilities and a better quality of life.
At this time, we are taking a multi-pronged approach. First and foremost, to ensure that we are taking care of our OEC members we will be running fiber to all of our existing 21 power substations. This will allow us to communicate better with our current and future systems and confirm that we are delivering safe and reliable power to all our members.
Along the way, we will enter various stages of the project to offer internet access, phone and TV services to existing and future members in their homes and businesses. We plan to build to all OEC members eventually, so if you have OEC electric, OEC Fiber is coming your way!
While OEC members are our priority, we will be able to connect non-OEC members in our service territory as well. The best way to ensure we make it to non-OEC neighborhoods is to sign up for updates and to encourage your neighbors to sign up too! The more interest in any given non-OEC neighborhood, the more likely we are to head your way soon!
Due to the size and scope of this project, this will not be an immediate process. The best way to stay updated is to sign up for updates and help share what we are doing with your neighbors, friends and family in order to help us get to your area faster.
As we travel to our substations, we will be offering these services to surrounding areas. We will be using various forms of communication, some direct and some indirect, to inform members that we will be offering fiber to the home and business. There will be a lot of communication in advance and a lot of construction going on, so we felt it was best to start with small pilot areas to ensure we deliver safe, fast and reliable internet and phone offerings.
